Measure your desk first. The Corsair MM300 Extended is 930 mm long, 300 mm deep and 3 mm thick, and that one fact settles more buying decisions than anything else in this review. In inches that is about 36.6 by 11.8. Plenty of home desks are narrower than you remember.

A mouse pad is a simple object and detailed owner reports are few, so this is a short list of claims.

Which MM300 Is This?

Corsair uses the MM300 name for several products, and it causes real confusion. This listing is the plain cloth version, part number CH-9000108-WW, which Corsair calls the anti-fray cloth pad. The MM300 PRO is a different product with a spill-proof cloth and its own part number, so double-check the listing and the box.

If you want a mat that shrugs off coffee, the plain MM300 makes no such claim. Corsair describes a micro-weave cloth top on a natural rubber base, with reinforced stitching around the edge. I found no promise of water resistance for this version.

The MM300 also comes in smaller sizes that share the name. Reviews on some retailer pages are merged across sizes, so an owner praising “the MM300” may not be talking about this long one. The comments below come from a page tied to the Extended part number.

What Owners Praise

This section draws on nine of the 29 owner reviews on the eBay product page for this part number, written across several years. Most of them are short and happy, and they praise the same few things.

The first is the edge. One owner in 2016 liked the “Stitched edges and a soft feel that doesn’t give the vibe that it will wear easily over time,” while noting the price felt a little high. In 2019 another wrote: “The Anti Fray hem around the edges looks, and feels great.” The stitching is the selling point of this pad, because cheap cloth mats tend to peel at the corners, and Corsair says the stitching is there to guard against peeling and fraying.

The second is grip and space. One owner said the pad is big and that it stops the keyboard from sliding. That is a nice side effect of a rubber base with a keyboard sitting on top. The same owner had to lower mouse sensitivity after the switch, which suggests a real change in how the mouse moved, though one comment can’t tell us more.

A 2021 reviewer said it is simply a great product, and added that their son also uses it as a tabletop playmat. I like that detail. It tells you what this object really is: a large, soft, flat sheet that happens to work with a mouse.

The Two Complaints That Matter

The first is size, and it comes from a fan. An owner in 2018 wrote: “if you don’t have space on your desk this is not for you.” That is the whole warning, and it is a fair one. This mat wants to own the front of your desk. If your desk is around a meter wide, it will reach nearly edge to edge. On a smaller surface, the ends will hang over or the pad won’t fit at all. The 300 mm depth is less of an issue, since it leaves space behind for a laptop stand or monitor foot.

The second complaint is more interesting. A 2017 owner titled a review “Smells” and wrote: “But the smell is terrible. Ink sharpie strong smell. It gives me headaches.” That owner also said washing did not fix it. It is the only clearly negative review of those nine, so I can’t tell you how common this is. New rubber goods can smell for a while, so airing the mat may help, even though washing did not help this owner. If you are sensitive to chemical smells, buy from a place with easy returns and unroll it somewhere away from your desk first.

Long-term wear remains an open question. A shopping summary from ShopSavvy claims that some owners report lasting up to eight years, and that others report minor fraying that does not affect use. It names no owners and gives no counts, so please treat that as a rumor with a pleasant ending. I found no owner who posted photos or details of the stitching after several years of daily use.

Keeping a Big Cloth Mat Clean

Cleaning is the part many buyers skip, and it is the real cost of a large cloth surface. Your wrists rest on it for hours. Crumbs and skin oil collect around the mouse zone, and on a mat this size you can’t just throw it in the sink without a plan.

Corsair’s cleaning guide keeps things gentle. For a very dirty pad, it says to start with a soft-bristled brush and to “Brush in a circular motion to avoid damaging the surface.” Then wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap, and “test it on a small, inconspicuous area first.” For tough stains, it suggests equal parts water and vinegar, left for a short time and wiped off. Let the pad dry fully before you use it.

The guide does not mention a washing machine at all, so I would not try one on a mat you want to keep flat. Allow a long drying time too. Rubber and cloth this size hold water, and a damp mat under a keyboard is unpleasant.

Think about what you do at your desk. If you eat there or drink coffee over the keyboard, a cloth mat will show it. A hard desk surface, or a leather or felt desk mat that wipes clean, is less work.

For Mac Users and Laptop Desks

Nothing about a cloth mat depends on your computer, but the setup might. If you use a Magic Mouse or a slim mouse, the low friction of a cloth surface depends on the mouse feet, and I found no owner report on that pairing. I can’t tell you how it glides. For a Mac desk with a slim keyboard, the 3 mm pad does raise your keyboard slightly and gives your wrist a softer place to land. The look is the other trade. This is a gaming product in dark colors, and it may not suit a clean white desk.

Rolling should be easy, as the thin build makes it simple to pack, but a mat that has been rolled tightly in a box may take a little time to lie flat. Unroll it early, and put something heavy on the ends if it needs help.

A Long Mat for a Long Desk

I think the MM300 Extended is a sensible buy for one kind of person: someone with a desk of at least a meter who wants one soft surface under keyboard and mouse, likes the stitched edge and does not mind cleaning by hand now and then. The owner comments are mostly content, and the stitching is the feature they keep noticing.

Skip it if your desk is small, if strong smells bother you and you cannot return it easily, or if you spill things. The PRO version is the one Corsair sells as spill-proof, and that may be worth a look instead.

For the right desk, the Corsair MM300 Extended Mousepad is a plain and sensible choice, so long as you check the length with a tape measure before you order it. This is an affiliate link. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
