Reviews written after the testing

Think Different is an English-language blog written independently from the Czech Republic by Jakub Jirák, a former principal software engineer in performance-critical systems, SIMD and GPU compute. It publishes every day: Apple how-to and buying guides, running AI on Apple Silicon, field notes on AI coding tools, automation and smart home, and hands-on reviews of hardware, software and services. Reviews are independent, disclosed, and written only after the product has been used.

Readers are Mac-first developers and technical creatives. There is no social following and no social traffic, and that is the reason the numbers have held for years: readers arrive from search, in English, looking for the thing the article is about. The figures are the same ones we quote to partners directly, refreshed here when they change. We do not sell reader data and do not run programmatic advertising.

How a review unit works

  1. You send the product or a licence. One condition up front: review units stay with us and are not returned, because long-term follow-ups need the hardware on the desk. Until the review is published it appears on the test bench only by category, never by name. Embargoes are respected; tell us the date.
  2. The review is written after the testing. Weeks of real use where the product allows it, with pros, cons, comparisons and who should skip it. Sending a unit never buys the verdict: factual corrections are welcome before publication, changes to the verdict are not.
  3. You get a private preview link. It shows the article exactly as it will publish. Approving it publishes the review and starts a 60-day window in which the article carries your offer and link, with a disclosure at the top saying the unit came from you.
  4. After the window the review stays up and the offer comes off. A reader discount code is welcome and is shown next to the offer for as long as it is valid.

What we do not do: paid verdicts, sponsored articles presented as reviews, or naming a product before its review is live. Every published review with a partner offer says so in its first paragraph.

Partners so far

Brands from keyboard and dock makers to Mac utilities and privacy services have sent units. The full list is on the partners page; the published hands-on reviews are listed on the reviews page.

The projects behind the blog

The blog is one of several things Jakub builds and publishes. Partners usually meet the others through it.

JetBrains plugins

Jakub publishes IDE plugins for testing, accessibility, security analysis and developer workflow on the JetBrains Marketplace. A selection:

Channels

No social channels are part of the offer. Reach is search, and a review keeps earning it for years.
